Business networking in Surrey is vibrant, with something for everyone.
I host free evening social networking, called Tweetups, in Croydon and, with Redhill Micropreurs, in Redhill and Reigate. Redhill Micropreneurs also organise free co-working days I often attend too.
I regularly attend Networking Mummies East Surrey who meet in my home town of Coulsdon, Ewell and Redhill, Heavenly Networking in Nutfield and Coulsdon Networking Club. These are all very informal and friendly, with little or no cost or membership fees.
There are many groups listed on Networking In Surrey and if you want my opinion or help on finding what's groups might be right for you, just send me an email and I can give you some direction.
I'm an Ambassador for The Business Cafe, of which there is more information below. Hopefully we'll have our first one in 2017!
My Tweetups are real social networking, organised originally and mainly using Twitter, though I post them as Events elsewhere and on my Facebook Page.
A chance to meet informally for a social in the evening, outside of business. Although a lot of us have businesses and met that way, anyone can come. Tweeupts area a kind of community event where we encourage you to come out from behind the screen and meet in real life!
There are plenty of business networkig events so this is a real chance to get to know each other personally, share local knowledge or just meet local people.
There's no format so just turn up when you can for as long or short a time as you like. We have a group of regulars at all of these as they've been running for years now. Buy your own drinks and/or food at the bar and chat!
I promote local events, whether busines or not, on Twitter, from South London and Croydon into and past Redhill and Reigate in Surrey.
Purley Festival is a showcase of what can be done with no marketing budget and a positive attitude. I started their online marketing with Facebook and Twitter for the first event in 2011 and it has grown massively into a multi-stage festival with hundreds of stalls that attracts thousands of people. Now a Director and Trustee of Purley Festival CIC, I mainly work on the marketing and am head of and manage all the festival's social media.
I worked on the Social Media for Purley BID during their campaign to create a Business Improvement Distruct and they achieved this with an almost 95% YES vote, meaning they were in the top 10% of the country.
Coulsdon Yulefest I've supported from the start and and in 2016 was running the social media for our local Christmas event, which involves closing part of the town for a Christmas market, funfiar, live stage and our Christmas Lights Switch on.
I'm an Ambassador for The Business Cafe, a new concept from Penny Power. Penny created one of the first online business networking sites, Ecademy in 1998 with her husband Thomas. This was way before Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter even existed and her book, Know Me, Like Me, Follow Me, was published in 2009!
I was a member of and then ran the Croydon Ecademy Group when I fiirst started my business. It was a great help to me. I recently worked with Penny on the SurreyWISE project, funded by the Equal Opportunities Office, with other Digital Coaches, we up-skilled 100 women across Surrey in digital confidence. She is an advocate of cherishing and supporting the small business person, the self employed.
The Business Cafe will be a physical cafe on the high street, with free membership for any business users. Somewhere for you to connect, share information, gain digital skills and more. If you are local to me in Surrey, join our local group here.
